Regardless of the layout of your area, the fundamental elements to think about are to keep the dishwasher near the sink and the bin to be located near the dishwasher, the food preparation area to be located near the hob and oven. The golden rule is “working triangle”, a three-point rule for the placement of the sink, fridge and cooking areas. This will keep the most used areas in close proximity to each other and eliminate over walking around the space.
“It’s all in the detail” – when planning it is important to store pots and pans next to the hob and oven, knife blocks or cutlery drawers located near food preparation areas. Also important elements of ensuring crockery and tableware will fit into the cabinets and drawers that will be fitted.
